| Greetings
once again from fabled Oat Central in
Nashville, Tennessee.
Well, ladies
and gentleman, Spring is here,
and we've been having some
really
beautiful weather... and stayin' very busy.
First, we'd
like to congratulate our own Steve Haggard
upon his re-election
to the
Board
of Directors of Sister Cities of Nashville,
a great non-profit
organization
here in town that's devoted to cultural/educational/commercial
exchange
netween Nashville and its sister cities around the world.
That excellent
Oat artist and good friend, singer/songwriter Glenn
French,
was in
town in mid-April, finishing his next Oat CD, set for release in late
June. Steve
Haggard produced, Randall
Merryman was the engineer. (The
pair also
worked on Glenn's current Wild Oats Records CD --
Timeless --
which has
been getting great response
both in the USA and overseas.)
The next
edition of our ever-popular monthly musical event, the fabled
Oat
Songwriter Showcase, will take place on Wednesday,
May 14th.
As usual,
it'll be held at the Commodore Grille here in Nashville, and --
as usual
-- we'll have some superb music... and some serious socializing!
Joel Alan
Lehman, Steve Haggard and Kimberly
King will be featured.
New releases,
anyone? Well, we've got two -- count 'em,
two -- excellent
new Wild
Oats Records CDs now available.
The first
is Beyond Cool, the Oat debut for Mike
Goroll, a talented and
original
singer/songwriter/musician from northern California. Mike's fine
and very
eclectic CD was produced by Steve Haggard,
and engineered
by Randall
Merryman. Like all our CDs, it was done here
at Oat Central.
Steve &
Randall also collaborated on Save Me From Myself the first
Oat
recording
for the distinctive, rockin' Delaware band, Old
Scool. The group
is led
by Lionel DeBernard,
a first-rate singer and songwriter.
Speaking
of Steve Haggard
-- a man of many talents -- he is putting the
finishing
touches on his own long-awaited
new Wild Oats Records CD,
Love
Conquers All, which will be released sometime in May; he is also
hard at
work on
his first book (!!),
due this summer. (By the way, for a
look at
the very nice video for Steve's song "Ghost
Town", click
here.)
One of our
favorite artists, Virginia Rao,
was here at ol' Oat Central again,
completing
her new album. (Steve Haggard produced, Randall Merryman
engineered.)
The CD, Virginia Rao, is really
good... and is now available.
Meanwhile,
one of the mainstays of our Oat artist roster, Garry
Jackson,
recently
returned from gigs in
France & Northern
Ireland. Garry's current
Wild Oats
Records CD is the stellar Something's Got A Hold On Me...
but he
has begun cutting tracks
for his next Oat album, due later in 2008.
(Haggard
& Merryman are producer/engineer.)
Did you
miss the "2nd Annual Wild
Oats Records Croquet Tournament,
Horseshoes
Fest, Drinkathon, Cookout & Jam Session
this
year? It was
held on
the grounds of the scenic Chateau d'Oat. Click
here for photos.
We'd like
to welcome the
newest Wild Oats Records artist: a fine singer/
songwriter
from Franklin, Tennessee, named David R. Smith.
He's now
working
on his first Oat project, and is a very talented guy. (David also
performed
at our April Oat Songwriter Showcase.)
Steve
Haggard, Joel Alan Lehman & The Nashville All-Stars recorded
a live
CD at Nashville's Cadillac Ranch recently. Haggard
& Lehman
also
team up
for European touring every year, with 2007 highlighted by their
appearance
at the Visagino festival in Lithuania...
where Steve, Joel and
their stellar
Nashville All-Stars band (featuring Oat artist, Mike Goroll,
this time
around) brought down the house before
an enthusiastic crowd
of more
than 20,000. View some Visagino
video here.
Look out
for Karo, a fine
singer from Finland who first recorded here
at Oat
Central in 2007. His new CD single is very
cool, rockin' stuff!
